What Is Chiropractic?

Blog what is chiropractic

The chiropractic profession is defined by its focus on adjusting the spine and pelvis. Abnormal feedback (proprioception) from nerve endings in the spine and surrounding tissues can occur due to spinal tissues being under or overutilised. Prolonged sitting and other abnormal postures may also harm spinal tissues, leading to pain. Spinal adjustments can restore movement to stiff spinal regions.

Old concepts, such as "a bone out of place" or "muscle weakness," have evolved to incorporate newer evidence about the role of spinal control. The chiropractor will use "hands-on" techniques or instruments to make adjustments to your spine, with the goal of improving movement and reducing stiffness.

In many cases, you will be encouraged to move more frequently, and some patients may be prescribed exercises to aid in their recovery.
